GrabMySlot › About

I grew up in a family locksmith business. I know what it feels like to drive across town and have nobody answer the door. I remember showing up to vehicle lockouts to find the customer had already left and didn't have the courtesy to call and cancel. Given we served a 50-mile radius, that was real wasted time and real money gone. That's not a statistic to me. It's a core memory.
The no-show problem isn't unique to locksmiths. A plumber drives 45 minutes and nobody answers. An HVAC tech blocks out a morning and the customer forgot. A tattoo artist turns away walk-ins for a three-hour session that doesn't show. A personal trainer holds a slot for a new client who texts to cancel at 6 AM. It's the same problem across dozens of different service types, and it costs real money every time it happens. Not just the missed service fee, but the drive, the preparation, the overhead that runs regardless, and the job that couldn't be booked in that slot.
I eventually moved into technology and spent years managing software engineers. That combination — knowing the problem from the inside, and knowing how to build — is what led to GrabMySlot. For the first time, I had the skills to actually do something about it.
Every scheduling tool I looked at was loaded with features a solo or small team doesn't need, or $100 to $250 per month before a business owner had collected a single dollar. That pricing makes no sense for a therapist or independent plumber or a two-person landscaping crew. The software cost is a fixed expense whether business is good or not.
The tools that do collect deposits treat it as an add-on feature buried in a higher tier. Deposit collection isn't a premium feature for a service business. It's the core mechanism that makes customers actually show up. It should be central to how the booking works, not bolted on.
GrabMySlot is built deposit-first. A customer selects a time, sees your cancellation policy, and pays a deposit before the booking is confirmed. No deposit, no confirmed appointment. The booking isn't a placeholder or afterthought. It's a commitment, and the customer has something to lose if they don't follow through.
There's no monthly fee. GrabMySlot charges 3% when you collect a deposit (and our payment processor Stripe charges 2.9% plus $0.30). In slow months, or on vacation, the cost is zero. That's a pricing model that makes sense for independent operators and small teams whose revenue isn't constant.
GrabMySlot works for any service business where customers book in advance and sometimes don't show. Trades, yes. But also tattoo artists, personal trainers, music teachers, mobile groomers, photographers, and anyone else whose calendar is their livelihood.
